Russian trading and production company Aktis was to launch a new plant for the production of glass containers, with a capacity of 110 million units per annum, in Novocherkassk (Rostov region) at the end of August, said Aktis“ general director Vladimir Baziyan. Baziyan said a total of US$ 11.6 million was spent on the plant. The construction is being financed by the company“s own funds and a credit received from Petrocommerts bank. However, Baziyan refused to divulge the size of the credit received. Currently, the company is completing installation of equipment from the Italian companies BDF and Glass Technologies, which will allow for the production of calibrated glass bottles of from 0.3 litres to 1.5 litres. Additonally, Aktis“ plans include the construction of a second glass production unit, as a result of which the plant“s production capacity will increase to 360 million bottles per annum. The cost of this work is estimated at about US$ 15 million.
