In a recent press release, Stein Heurtey of France said the 400 tonne-per-day float glass line of Iran Float Glass Company at the site of Kavehwas successfully started up on 24 May 2000. The first float glass line in operation in Iran was started up ahead of schedule. Stein Heurtey said that the contract signed with its company as main contractor in December 1998 was carried out in only 18 months. The scope of Iran Float Glass Company covered civil work building and utilities. Stein Heurtey added that the Iranian customer was also in charge of the local supply of a significant part of the float glass line equipment. Stein Heurtey, together with its Belgian subsidiary B.G.E., constructed the hot end section, which includes the melting furnace, tin bath equipment and annealing lehr. The batch plant was supplied partially by Raute, the cutting equipment by Bystronic, and the control systems by Siemens.
