Slovak glass producing companies united in the Association of the Glass Industry grossed Kcs 216.8 million in 1999 on revenues of Kcs 8.7 billion and costs of Kcs 8.49 billion. Profit was 60% lower than in the previous year. Annual sales of glass companies increased 10% to Kcs 6.82 billion. An upward trend was reported in exports, which increased 19% year-on-year to Kcs 5.34 billion. Sales on the domestic market fell 14% to Kcs 1.483 billion. Companies in the association employed 6,794 employees in 1999. Their average monthly wage rose 10% year-on-year to Kcs 12,092. Investments into fixed assets in these companies last year totalled Kcs 1.388 billion, while they were only Kcs 678.5 million in 1998. The Association of the Glass Industry was established in December 1992, and its members are 25 companies engaged in the production of glass, china, and ceramics.
