Pomdi, Spanish-based manufacturer of diamond tools for the flat glass industry, announced in a company press statement that it aims to increase its presence abroad by participating in the PIPE 2000 project. PIPE 2000 is a programme sponsored by the Spanish government which supports small and medium-sized national enterprises in order to initiate or consolidate their spread into foreign markets. The organization of PIPE 2000 is a common effort between ICEX (Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade), the Upper Council of Chambers of Spain, the Chambers of Commerce and the autonomous community. The programme consists of decision taking and actions to be developed as well as specific and complementary ICEX services. Meanwhile, Pomdi announced in a separate statement that it had been recognized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Madrid as one of the seven most important Spanish exporting companies in 1998. Sales in more than 45 foreign countries comprise 20 per cent of Pomdi“s turnover.
