US-based self-adhesive labels manufacturer Avery Dennison Corp. has acquired the Adespan pressure-sensitive materials operation of Panini S.p.A., a printing and publishing company based in Italy. Financial terms were not disclosed. In a recent press release, Avery said the business, which had US$ 75 million in sales for 1999, will further strengthen its base materials business in Europe. The Adespan operation employs about 220 people and is based in Bomporto, Italy, located near Bologna. The Adespan business will operate as a separate division of Avery Dennison“s Fasson Roll-Europe unit. Avery Dennison had sales of US$ 3.8 billion in 1999.
