Canadian group Boralex Inc. said it has acquired a 16-megawatt, biomass-fired, electrical power station from Gorbell/Thermo Electron Power Co. of Athens, Me., for US$ 2 million. Boralex said the plant increases its total production capacity to 174 megawatts, and increases its use of renewable forest products to more than 1.3 million tonnes a year. Boralex said it will sell the electricity produced at this station on the New England market. Quebec-based Boralex produces hydroelectric and thermal power.
