Japan“s flat glass manufacturer Nippon Sheet Glass Co. said it estimates damage of 1.5 billion yen, following a recent fire at the company“s Sagamihara factory in Kanagawa, near Tokyo. The estimated loss includes 1 billion yen of damage at production facilities, 300 million yen of damage of product stockpiles and 200 million yen of damage at a factory building. Currently, product shipments from the damaged production line are at a halt, and the company has been forced to secure the shortages from its overseas factories and other makers. The fire broke out in late October at one of the company“s electronics-related production facilities at Sagamihara. No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the company said.
