The 1st Hispanic Conference on the History of Glass will be held in Barcelona and Sitges, Spain, from 30 June to 2 July 2000. According to the organizers, Fundaci Centre del Vidre de Barcelona, the scope of the conference will be to provide a forum for exchanging knowledge and experience in Spanish glass, by looking at its history, heritage and different contemporary trends. The conference welcomes any collaborations focusing on Spanish glass collections abroad, links between Spanish glass and other production centres, new contributions to glass conservation and restoration, as well as other topics. The working sessions will tie in with visits to different exhibitions of Spanish glass from the 15th to the 19th centuries, organized especially for the conference by the Barcelona Museum of Decorative Arts and the Sitges Heritage Consortium. A visit to the Amatller Foundation of Hispanic Art collection will also be offered, as well as a trip to exhibits formed by young glass artists, which will be on display at the Espai Vidre gallery in Barcelona. The working sessions of the conference will be held in 3 languages (Catalan, Spanish and English) and simultaneous translations will also be provided. All papers must be received by 7 February 2000.
