11 March 1999: Elf Atochem, the chemicals subsidiary of French oil group Elf Aquitaine, recently announced that it had concluded an agreement to acquire, for an undisclosed sum, the glass treatment products business of Goldschmidt, a subsidiary of Viag. The activity represents turnover of about FFr 50 million (less than EUR 8 million). Elf Atochem, which currently manufactures this type of product in the Netherlands and the USA, is thereby acquiring a presence in Germany, while gaining new technology.
