3 September 1998: The Czech Republic“s Skloexport reportedly wants to close its first licence contracts with foreign distributors and domestic glass producers, for using the registered trademarks Bohemia Crystal and Bohemia Glass. The trade director of the company, Josef Molata, said that tight protection of the brand names should bring the company several tens of millions of crowns each year. “We discovered that our registered trademarks, the value of which is estimated at nearly Kcs 2.5 billion, are being used by many manufacturers without authorization. We will now resolve these cases the legal way,” Molata said. He did not say which companies are using Skloexport“s labels illegally.
