The event will take place virtually on March 24 2022, and as this year marks the UN International Year of Glass, British Glass will be taking this opportunity to celebrate and consider the past, present and future of glass.
Over the course of the event, key speakers will report on progress made since last year’s event including collaborative efforts from across the supply chain to reach the goal of a 90 percent glass collection rate for recycling. Alongside this, a panel discussion will take place featuring representatives from across the glass value chain before attendees will take part in breakout sessions to discuss the challenges ahead and the future of glass packaging.
Speakers include Parliamentary Under-Secretary of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Jo Churchill MP and International Commission on Glass President, Professor Alicia Duran. With panellists from Ardagh Glass, O-I Glass, Heineken, Zero Waste Leeds and Recresco.
Dave Dalton, British Glass CEO, commented, “This is a unique chance for the glass value chain to come together in the International year of glass to work towards our industry led commitment to Close the Glass Loop and achieve at least a 90 percent collected for recycling rate by 2030, to make glass packaging more circular and ultimately the most sustainable packaging material.
“I look forward to seeing those who attend to discuss the vital next steps our industry should take on our journey towards a more circular economy.”
The event will be held on Zoom on Thursday 24 March, from 10am to 1pm. To see the full programme and register click here.
