A tertiary college in central England is providing recognized work-based training and assessment for glazing installers and production operatives. The Derby Tertiary College is one of only a few centres in Britain offering the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) courses. The qualifications are accredited by the Glass Qualifications Authority and supported by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF). The training program will enable potential customers to distinguish between companies that have appropriately qualified staff. GGF member Abbey Glass, based in Derby, is one of the first companies in the area to take advantage of the training opportunity. The majority of employees have achieved NVQ qualifications from five being offered by the college.
