AGC Glass Europe has recently introduced a new, modern way to measure the thickness of an installed glass pane: the AGC Glass Thickness Measurement app.
Until now, the only way to measure the thickness of an installed glass pane, of which the edges are hidden in the rebate, has been to use either a basic plastic measuring card to gauge thickness or a professional measuring device. With the AGC Glass Thickness Measurement app, the user can simply ‘scan’ the thickness of a glass pane by holding the edge of a smartphone at an angle of 45° to the window. The circles displayed on the smartphone screen represent thicknesses going from 3 to 15 mm. The image in which the two circles reflect each other exactly indicates the thickness of the glass pane.
The app can be used to measure the thickness of single glazing (with or without a coating).
AGC has produced a demo video that can be viewed on YouTube: https://youtu.be/VM6lytDAmD8
The app is available for Android and iOS and can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play. It is available in four languages: English, French, Dutch and German.
