AGC Glass Europe recently reported on the installation of electro-boosting that is ongoing in their plant in Osterweddingen, Germany. It is one of the innovative breakthrough technologies that are essential to reduce the direct emissions by 30 percent by 2030 and reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
To achieve these targets, the company set out a roadmap, taking into consideration all parts of the value chain. It includes:
• Sustainable sourcing of raw materials
• Using highly efficient melting furnaces
• Increasing the use of cullet
• Using low carbon electricity
• Optimising transport
