US Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has reached an agreement with Anchor Glass Container Corp. on alleged clean-air violations at the firm“s container glass plant at Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The deal, which includes a USD 96,901 penalty, resolves EPA allegations that Anchor Glass failed to use its baghouses to control emissions of particulates (dust, smoke, ash) at the plant as required by the company“s state operating permit. Also resolved are allegations that the company failed to comply with a number of other requirements in its state operating permit. The alleged violations came to light during a November 2004 inspection by EPA and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
