The European Commission said on Thursday that it has approved the acquisition of Verallia by Apollo Management L.P. of the USA, under the EU Merger Regulation.
Verallia is formed by a group of companies that manufactures and supplies glass bottles and jars for the food and beverage industry worldwide. Before the transaction, Verallia belonged to Compagnie de Saint-Gobain S.A. of France.
Apollo Management is a private equity firm based in the U.S.
The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns, in particular because there are no overlaps between the activities of Apollo Management and its portfolio companies and those of Verallia.
The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
