French crystal and glassware manufacturer Arc International has acquired four French distribution companies: Piffaut, Vachaud Distribution, Roche Fortune and Callens Lesage. The four companies had an aggregate turnover of over EUR 200 million in 2003 and employ 650 staff. The takeover of the companies was originally planned for April 2004 but required the approval of the French ministry of finance. Arc International is currently engaged in extensive restructuring at its base in Arques, France, and is hoping to set up an integrated European distribution unit, following the acquisition of several distribution companies over the last year. The group is planning to create a commercial subsidiary, Arc Distribution France, in order to manage these new activities.
