French crystal and glassware producer Arc International, formerly Verrerie Cristallerie d“Arques, has acquired Dutch crystal and glassware manufacturer and retailer Glasheinz for an undisclosed sum, it was reported on 20 June 2005. Glasheinz closed 2004 with turnover of EUR 11 million (USD 13.5 million), some 60% of which came from sales of Arc International products. The acquisition is in line with Arc International“s aim of expanding its sales in northern Europe. The French company has retail subsidiaries in France (Arc Distribution France), Spain (Arc Distribution Iberica) and the UK (Arc International Tableware UK). Glasheinz is a family-owned company founded in 1836. It employs 25 and is based in the northern Netherlands. Arc International was established in 1825 in Arques, northern France. The group closed 2004 with a turnover of EUR 1.2 billion (USD 1.47 billion).
