Taiwanese electronics companies AU Optronics Corp and Acer Inc declined to comment on lawsuits filed by US-based flat glass maker Guardian Industries Corp for alleged intellectual property infringements related to liquid crystal display technologies. “It“s a legal process; we cannot comment on this,” said an official from AU Optronics, adding though that the company always respected intellectual property. Acer Inc said the suit filed by Guardian against the company is related to thin-film-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) products. “We cannot comment on this as our suppliers will handle it,” an Acer official said. AU Optronics, is the world“s third-largest marker of large-area TFT-LCD panels. Acer is the world“s fifth-largest personal computer vendor in terms of shipments in 2004.
