Around 200 Dutch employees of glass packaging company BSN Glasspack, which was recently acquired by Owens-Illinois, staged a strike at the BSN plant in Schiedam, western Netherlands, on 16 June 2004, Dutch trade union FNV Bondgenoten said on 16 June 2004. Employees from the three BSN plants in the Netherlands were protesting at new pension regulations proposed by BSN. The negotiations on a new collective labour agreement (CAO) for the nearly 900 BSN employees in the Netherlands ended without agreement at the end of May 2004, due to the dispute over the proposed changes to the pension regulations. BSN employees at the Schiedam plant had already taken strike action in early June 2004. The other two BSN plants in the Netherlands are located in Leerdam, western Netherlands, and Maastricht, southern Netherlands.
