Bystronic glass goes Social Media

Bystronic glass has entered the international world of social media. As Iris Minten, who is in charge of Online Communication at Bystronic glass, says, “Videos play a particularly important role in the technical sector, because they make it much easier to explain how our complex machines and equipment work other than words can alone.”

Bystronic glass has entered the international world of social media by creating its own YouTube channel, www.YouTube.com/Bystronicglass. “Videos play a particularly important role in the technical sector, because they make it much easier to explain how our complex machines and equipment work other than words can alone,” says Iris Minten, who is in charge of Online Communication at Bystronic glass.
She explains further, “Using YouTube and other social media is now a part of daily life in the business world, so we decided in December to create our own YouTube channel.” At present there are six videos with an intro in the current glass cube design of Bystronic glass. The most popular video at the moment is the short film containing pictures of the glasstec 2012 trade fair. Additionally visitors can watch and comment on videos that demonstrate the production of insulating glass units, laminated glass and automotive glass pre-processing. “As is typical for social media, the comment function on YouTube provides us with a dialogue tool that we would like to use,” says Iris Minten.
Bystronic glass has long been aware that “a picture speaks a 1,000 words” particularly moving pictures. The company’s website at www.bystronic-glass.com has featured numerous product videos for several years now. Customers and potential customers can also watch all of these films on the Bystronic glass video database. “This demonstrates that we acknowledge the challenge head-on of providing our customers with far more than simply a company website,” comments Iris Minten. The number of videos and theme areas on the YouTube channel will gradually be expanded. To avoid missing any new videos, interested parties should subscribe to the Bystronic glass channel to receive automatic notifications about new items on the YouTube page.
