Carl Zeiss of Oberkochen has announced the appointment of Dieter Kurz, aged 52, as management board chairman. Kurz will replace Peter Grassmann when he steps down at the end of 2000. He joined Carl Zeiss in 1979 and joined the board in January 2000. Meanwhile, the management board will be expanded from three to four members. The new board members will be Norbert Gorny (36) and Michael Kaschke (42). Gorny will head the microscopics division, while Kaschke will be responsible for medical technology.
