Celebrate International Museum Day and the Association of Art Museum Directors’ Art Museum Day on 18 May, at The Corning Museum of Glass.
As always, admission to the Museum is free for kids 17 and under.
In addition to the usual schedule of hot glass and flameworking demonstrations happening throughout the day, the Museum will provide special content in celebration of Art Museum Day. Visitors can explore the relationship between glass and microscopes in the exhibition, Revealing the Invisible: The History of Glass and the Microscope. Guests can also enjoy the major exhibition, Fragile Legacy: The Marine Invertebrate Glass Models of Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka. Visit the new Contemporary Art + Design Wing, to see contemporary artists who have been inspired by the Blaschkas and take in a Blashka themed hot glass and flameworking demonstration.
After learning all about glass artistry, visitors can dive deep into their own creativity at The Studio with the new Make Your Own Glass sea slug project! And also make everything from flowers, to suncatchers, to beads, and more. Additional fee applies and reservations are recommended.
