US thin film producer CPFilms announced 26 April that it will invest US$ 30 million in new machinery, new buildings and increased capacity to meet the growth in its precision coating and glass treatment film business. A new 20,000-sq. ft. facility will be completed by the end of the second quarter of this year to house expanded production and materials storage. High-capacity multi-purpose coating and laminating machinery is to be in full operation by the middle of the year, expanding capacity at Martinsville by one third. Concurrently a new high speed packaging facility will be put on line to meet growing retail Do-it-Yourself solar control window film demands. Ken Vickers, President of CPFilms, said, “We are the US leader for solar control window film and we intend to remain so. Our markets are growing at more than 15% per year, which means that we must have increased capacity to maintain our dominant position.”
