According to the Ukrainian state customs service, soda ash exports from the country in November totalled 18,563.2 tons, 18.2% down on the October figure of 22,692.9 tons. Crimean Soda Plant commercial director Oleksandr Surmak claimed the drop in exports in November was due to the postponed departure of a ship with a cargo of 5,000 tons of soda ash. However, some traders attribute the decline in export volumes to a reduction in the plant“s barter sales, which is causing the price of soda to increase.
