The Crimean soda plant (Crimea, Krasnoperekopsk), the largest producer of soda ash in the Ukraine, has completed the rebuilding of its filtration station. “On 10 November we signed a document on the commissioning of the fourth vacuum filter”, said chairman of the board Oleksandr Khalin. The rebuilding gives the plant the ability to produce soda of the highest quality. In addition, the introduction of the new vacuum filter will cut spending on technical servicing and extend the service life of equipment. The Crimean soda plant started the reconstruction of its filtration station in January 2008 and the first stage was completed in June. During the first stage, two old vacuum filters have been replaced by fast-moving EMDE vacuum filters. Around EUR 3 million has been invested in the project. The Crimean soda plant covers 80% of the needs of the Ukrainian domestic market and 2.5% of the world market for soda ash. The plant produces soda ash of type A (heavy) and type B (light).
