In a bid to avoid bankruptcy, Holmegaard Glasvaerk is likely to move some of its production abroad. The company is headquartered in Fensmark, Denmark. Holmegaard Glasvaerk was founded in 1825 as the first Danish glassmaker after the Renaissance. The company has a retail chain through which it sells its mouth-blown glass products under the Holmegaard trademark. Holmegaard Glasvaerk laid off 95 workers in 2001.
