Fenzi’s growing environmental stewardship efforts

Fenzi North America has developed an online continuing education course that is available free of charge to anyone wishing to learn how to properly select IG elements, find out about the ins and outs of each and every component, understand their performance and earn education credits.

The course organized by the Fenzi group and entitled: Selecting Insulating Glass Sealants for Durability and Energy Efficiency – is now available from the AEC Daily’s Online Learning Center (OLC) website. Fenzi North America has developed an online continuing education course that is available free of charge to anyone wishing to learn how to properly select IG elements, find out about the ins and outs of each and every component, understand their performance and earn education credits.
The course has been approved by the Architects Institute of America (AIA) and the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and offers education credits recognized by numerous other associations for sustainable planning and design.
The high educational content of the course programme has been certified by AEC Daily’s On-line Learning Center, the USGBC training institution responsible for promoting the professional development of the construction industry and LEED professionals through high-quality continuing education programmes, which today also include Fenzi’s course.
Access to the online course is simple:go to www.aecdaily.com/sponsor/fenzi and select Fenzi’s course in the Education Tab. Alternatively, go to Fenzi’s home page at www.fenzigroup.com or Fenzi North America website http://www.fenzi-na.com/fenzi_facts.php . The programme is extremely user-friendly and in case of need you can contact an expert. Those who wish to access the course must register and enter an Exam Password for the online exam. To receive the course completion certification follow the instructions at the end of the programme.
The course provides an overview of the characteristics insulating glass (IG) sealants must offer to ensure long-term thermal performance, structural durability and longevity of insulating glass units.
At the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
• discuss IG units in terms of their role in saving energy, offering thermal performance over a single lite of glass, providing comfort to building occupants while letting in natural light and views of the outdoor environment;
• identify the components of an IG unit, and discuss how they contribute to the function of the unit as a whole in energy performance and safety glazing applications;
• identify and compare IG sealant types, and determine key differences between primary and secondary seals;
• assess the durable and mechanical properties of an IG sealant and select an appropriate product for a specific application to ensure the thermal performance of the IG unit does not diminish over the life span of the building.
