First Hot Top Electric Furnace Unveiled at Glasstec 2024 by Forglass

Forglass Hot Top Electric FurnaceTM has the capability to melt flint glass, but also amber and green glass

At this year’s Glasstec trade fair in Düsseldorf, Forglass unveiled the world’s first fully electric Hot Top furnace with a capacity of 500 tonnes per day. This groundbreaking event attracted massive attention from the industry, with hundreds of specialists, engineers and market leaders visiting the Forglass booth, recognizing it as a significant leap forward in glass melting technology.

Forglass Hot Top Electric FurnaceTM, developed by Forglass experts, has the capability to melt flint glass, but also impossible until now in electric furnaces demanding glasses such as amber and green glass with 70 to 90 percent of cullet share. This achievement is possible thanks to Forglass Mixing Electrodes® which provide precise control over convection within the glass melt.

However, this was not the only innovation Forglass presented at Glasstec. The company also showcased a new family of hybrid furnaces, combining the benefits of both traditional and modern melting technologies, along with innovative solutions for preheating cullet and cullet treatment, enabling more efficient and eco-friendly use of raw materials.

Glasstec 2024 will undoubtedly be remembered as the moment when the glass industry took a significant step into the future thanks to Forglass’ innovations.
