Flat Glass Industries Ltd has lowered its EBITDA forecast for the six months to 31 December 2008 to AUD 1.1 million from a AUD 4.8 million in the previous 1H, resulting in an expected loss of around AUD 450,000. The previous 1H showed a 63% increase to AUD 2.5 million. No dividend will be declared, compared with a previous dividend of AUD 0.03 per share, fully franked. Directors expect the company return to profitability in the 2H and are forecasting full year EBITDA of AUD 4 million. Sales for the December 2008 half-year are forecast to be 11% below budget following a downturn in the steel engineering subsidiary RTK Industries and the deterioration in the building materials sector which is affecting glass operations. The result will reflect one-off factors including restructuring and retrenchment costs of AUD 142,000 and lost EBITDA due to the delays in commissioning of the Dandenong factory amounting to AUD 690,000.
