Glas Trösch – at the highest altitudes

Environmentally friendly and autonomous energy and building technology plays a particularly important role in the mountains

The Monte Rosa Hut was designed by ETH Studio Monte Rosa / Bearth & Deplazes Architekten AG, Chur/Zürich at 2,883 metres to test new technologies related to design, calculation and manufacturing under extreme conditions in the high mountains.

Based on the exposed location and the extreme climatic conditions, increased protection from strong solar radiation as well as from particularly low outside temperatures was required for the glazing.

The intelligent glass façade therefore consists of Glas Trösch‘s triple insulating glass SILVERSTARCOMBI Neutral 61/32 and SILVERSTARSELEKT, which optimally combine high light transmission with solar control and thermal insulation for these climatic requirements.
