Glas Trösch: generous glass fronts at Grindelwald V-Bahn

In the Bernese Alps lies the gateway to the Jungfrau region: Grindelwald

While a few mountaineers use this place as the base camp for climbing the challenging north face of the Eiger, in Switzerland, skiers and hikers appreciate access to the mountain world via the V-Bahn. The new buildings by von allmen Architekten include the Grindelwald valley station terminal and the Eigergletscher station.

While the valley station, with its façade combination of wood and glass, makes reference to the traditional timber construction of the village, the Eigergletscher station, in restrained white, gives way to the surrounding mountain landscape. Common to both buildings is the use of generous glass fronts, which provide an appropriate view of the breathtaking surroundings.

In addition to Glas Trösch‘s triple insulating glass SILVERSTAR EN2plus, SILVERSTAR COMBI as a double and triple insulating glass ensures maximum light incidence and thermal comfort. The outer coating with SILVERSTAR FREE VISION T prevents fogging on the outside and guarantees clear views.

The V-Bahn won the Swiss Mountain Award 2021 for setting new standards in convenience, design, guest guidance and logistics.
