Glass Performance Days to focus on glass architecture and the environmental impact of buildings

At this year’s GPD, more than 500 decision-makers, experts and architects from all over the world will attend, to get hands-on knowledge and practical information from about 180 presentations given by glass industry experts, complemented by around 20 workshops.

Glass plays a key role in modern façades and structural solutions in buildings. The use of glass has expanded from mere window solutions to a whole new level. At its best, glass is a building material that offers high-tech solutions for buildings. Glass creates added value for a building’s overall appearance, effectiveness and environmental impact. The Glass Performance Days (GPD) conference, to be held in Tampere, Finland, 13-15 June, brings together the world’s leading glass industry experts.
As one of the world’s leading glass industry conferences GPD brings together all of the different stakeholders in the glass processing chain. This year over 500 of the industry’s decision-makers, experts and architects from all over the world are expected to attend the conference.
The GPD has a huge influence on the development of the glass processing industry. The conference will feature around 180 presentations given by glass industry experts, complemented by around 20 workshops, offering participants hands-on knowledge and practical information. In addition, participants can review the latest glass innovations at the Glass Expo product exhibition.
The GPD is held in Tampere every two years; this year’s conference is the fourteenth. The conference attracts the most renowned experts in their fields. This time, the conference workshops will present, among other things, the Louis Vuitton Foundation “Glass Sails” building project in the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris and the Freedom Tower – WTC Tower One project in New York.
The Glass Sails building features 12 glass sails consisting of 13,500 square metres of curved glass and 3,527 glass panels. The WTC Tower One workshop will cover façade solutions developed by the architect, the history of the WTC building and its reconstruction.
