Glasstech Mexico: Something you can’t miss in Latin America

Glasstech Mexico, the only glass expo in Mexico focused on the flat glass industry, will be held from July 19 to 21, 2023. This will be the third edition of Glasstech Mexico at Centro Citibanamex, Mexico City.

Glasstech Mexico is aiming to be the meeting point between global suppliers and specialized professionals from Latin America. Over 100 Exhibitors from Italy, China, Germany, Australia, Spain, Mexico, Canada, USA, Colombia and other countries have already confirmed their participation at Glasstech Mexico 2023.

During the expo there will be a conference to talk about new technologies, installing skills and new products.

Growing sectors in the market
Through this input over the years, the glass industry in Mexico has become one of the fastest growing sectors in addition to being an essential component in the Mexican economy. Mexican produced glass is a determining factor in strengthening the automotive industry, the construction industry and the export packaging sector.

In fact, the flat glass market is expected to obtain an annual growth rate of 3.88 percent from 2023 to 2028, which represents an opportunity to continue strengthening its production and promoting its marketing to new destinations abroad.

Mexico is currently the leading Spanish-speaking economy in terms of GDP, already surpassing Spain.

It is important to say that Mexico is one of the main prominent markets in the production of glass at a regional level. Due to this, at the beginning of 2022 there was a crisis in the elaboration of this material, since it was difficult to meet the high demand of companies that manufacture food, perfumes, beverages and containers for pharmaceutical supplies.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), during the first quarter of that year, production in the glass industry manufactured around 5.3 million containers of various weights, which represented an annual increase of 7.1 percent.

According to INEGI, in Mexico there are around 94 glass plants, which operate at a capacity of 95 percent.

How much glass does Mexico produce?
Glass sales had an increase of 26.8 percent compared to the year 2021, leaving a total of USD 623 million as a result.

Flat glass sales increased by 29.6 percent compared to the previous year, due to a strengthening in the automotive and architectural sector.

In turn, packaging sales also showed an increase of 26.3 percent, mainly due to the increase in demand for this input for the value-added segment in regions such as the United States, South America and Europe.

The glass industry in Mexico is a sector that continues to grow, so it remains to be hoped that 2023 will be a successful year for the glass sector.

For all these reasons, Glasstech Mexico is the ideal platform to find business opportunities in the glass industry.
