At the 20th edition of the China Glass exhibition, held at Shanghai from 13-16 May 2009, Glaston had on show its latest generation of products, technologies and services. Glaston“s leading brands: Tamglass, Bavelloni, Uniglass and Albat+Wirsham, were there to present their most recent ideas at the “Virtual Factory“. During the exhibition, Glaston held a press conference during which Mika Seitovirta, President and CEO of Glaston, explained why the group had a stronger than ever presence at China Glass. China is not only a big market, it also has the biggest growth expectations in the world. We have made strategic investments in China during the past years. In 2007, our factory in Tianjin was inaugurated. In 2008, we continued to strengthen our presence, and a new market area was formed for North Asia, with Chinese management being recruited and led by Frank Zhang, general manager of North Asia, to support our customers and grow our business in this region, said Seitovirta. In 2008, Glaston began to manufacture several pre-processing and heat treatment products in Tianjin. Our goal is to offer products better tailored to this market and to increase our expertise in this area. At this exhibition the Syncro MFS 37/27 cutting line and PowerEdgeVX/10 3000 double edger – the first double edger really focussing on low-E grinding – were on show. Both machines were manufactured at Glaston Tianjin, said Frank Zhang. This year, the product portfolio of Glaston Tianjin also includes Glaston USA tempering technology, with products such as the CHFTM Continuous Flat Tempering Furnace, which meets the high and special quality requirements requested by solar power applications. Also on display at the Glaston stand were the wide range of Bavelloni diamond wheels, including both metallic and resin diamond and polishing tools, as well as premium software systems for the planning, control and optimization of glass processing and production.
