Glass Processing Days China will be held in Shanghai from 16-17 April 2005 and the deadline for submission of abstracts has been extended to 3 December 2004. Those interested in presenting in China do not need to send an abstract immediately: the event organisers say that in order to work out the number of interested parties, all that is required for the time being is the title of the presentation, company and name of the presenter. Instructions on how to send presentation material will be sent at a later date. The theme of the seminar is energy saving and the environment and the main focus will be on the use of coated glass and laminated film technology. The organisers are seeking: – speakers from companies that supply different coating lines for architectural purposes – PVB suppliers to talk about laminated glass – glass safety standard developers to talk about the development of contemporary and relevant standards that help businesses perform more effectively – speakers from building glass installation companies – architects to give ideas on what they expect or want glass companies to do – a specialized architect in curved glass or curved forms (e.g. glass roofs or galleries) to talk about the requirements of such glass – a speaker on how tinted laminated glass can reduce heat gain from sunlight to lower air conditioning costs – a speaker on future trends e.g. in the use of special glasses In addition there will be an automotive session and GPD is looking for a speaker to talk about how growth in the automotive industry has increased production and quality demands for glass. More information is available on the Glass Processing Days website.
