With the ability to apply two different separating agents simultaneously, the Bavarian company Grafotec Spray Systems GmbH demonstrates the flexible use options of its AP system
Grafotec Spray Systems GmbH, a German manufacturer of separating agent application systems, recently put the adaptability of the AP system to a test in a plant in Northern Italy. They used an improved version of the existing “AP 550 Twin” application system, which was developed specifically for applying powder separating agents in the float glass and flat glass industry. Applying two different powder separating agents is not a standard process in the float glass and flat glass industry. Nevertheless, customers often need a specific separating agent for protecting glass. In the past the only way of fulfilling this need was to invest in two independently controlled separating agent application systems.
Two different separating agents can be applied on an alternating basis with the customized AP 550 TWIN retrofitted with a second power tank and a double nozzle bar. Two sets of 24 nozzles per unit can be controlled via the central control. The flexibility of the AP system thus provided enables the glass manufacturer to apply different separating agents per glass plate in continuous operation. The company will be presenting itself and its products from October 23rd to 26th at this year’s Glasstec show in Düsseldorf.
