Guardian Automotive Products has requested a 10-year tax abatement on a project to expand operations and create 58 new jobs at its Ligonier factory, which includes more than USD 3 million in construction costs and USD 4.9 million in new equipment.
Guardian Automotive Products Inc., reportedly plans to invest about USD 8 million to expand operations and create 58 new jobs at its Ligonier factory, which now employs 277 people.
According to Ligonier City Council President Ken Schuman, Guardian has asked for a 10-year tax abatement on the project, which includes more than USD 3 million in construction costs and USD 4.9 million in new equipment.
Guardian is said to have agreed to donate 10% of its tax savings to a non-profit.
The auto glassmaker was among the city’s largest employers before the recession hit in 2008, Schuman said, adding that the company’s workforce had shrunk but has been growing in recent months.
“Our industrial base has, I think, picked up a lot of steam,” he said.
