Guardian project wins AIBC Architectural Award

Guardian SunGuard is used in the North Vancouver City Hall, which has been named a 2013 AIBC Architectural Award winner. SunGuard SuperNeutral 54 offers 54% visible light transmission and a low, 0.28 solar heat gain coefficient, delivering more natural light, less heat gain and greater energy savings.

North Vancouver City Hall has been named a 2013 AIBC Architectural Award winner. Each year, the Architectural Institute of British Columbia showcases the best in regional architecture through its awards programme. North Vancouver City Hall includes Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral 54 high-performance glass.
The renovation and expansion project was designed by mcfarlane green biggar ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN with project lead architect Michael Green, Architect AIBC; and completed by MGA | MICHAEL GREEN ARCHITECTURE.

Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral glass helps architects create statements of light and colour while earning LEED points and controlling energy costs. SunGuard SuperNeutral 54 offers 54% visible light transmission and a low, 0.28 solar heat gain coefficient, delivering more natural light, less heat gain and greater energy savings, all of which contribute to the building’s application for LEED silver certification.
The glass was fabricated by Guardian Select Fabricator Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope. The project glazier was Flynn Canada Ltd., a Guardian Glazier Connection member.
North Vancouver City Hall was one of 13 to be recognized by the AIBC, and one of three recipients to receive the prestigious Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia Award in Architecture – Medal Level, recognizing exceptional excellence in architectural projects completed within the past seven years and led by a B.C.-registered architect.
