Guardian Industries has received a Green Design Honorable Mention for its Guardian SunGuard® SNX 62/27 high performance glazing. The Pinnacle Bank 16,500-seat Arena showcases Lincoln, Nebraska’s commitment to sustainable design through a high level of energy efficiency and energy savings measures.
Guardian Industries Corp. was recognized with a USGlass Magazine 2014 Green Design Honorable Mention for its Guardian SunGuard® SNX 62/27 high performance glazing on the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Designed by DLR Group and BVH Architects, the 16,500-seat arena showcases the city’s commitment to sustainable design through a high level of energy efficiency and energy savings measures. With 62% visible light transmission, a low, 0.27 solar heat gain coefficient and an impressive light-to-solar gain ratio of 2.30, SunGuard SNX 62/27 keeps excessive heat out while letting the sun shine through the multi-story, glass lobby.
The low-E glass helps the centre’s heating and cooling equipment operate at its maximum efficiency, contributing to the facility’s ENERGY STAR certification. Pinnacle Bank Arena uses this and multiple other measures to operate at 35% less energy than non-certified buildings. It is built to LEED Silver specifications.
Also recognized for the Pinnacle Bank Arena project were independent Glazier Connection™ member Glass Edge Inc. and independent Guardian Select® Fabricator Manko Window Systems. This is Guardian’s second consecutive Green Design award.
Guardian SunGuard advanced architectural glass and Glass Analytics provide facade solutions that allow architects and designers to explore the aesthetic and functional possibilities of building with light while meeting complex energy, daylighting and LEED requirements.
