HEGLA-HANIC is now member of the umati community

umati partnership - simplify and unify workflows

umati (universal machine technology interface) is a community of the machine building industries and their customers for the promotion and adoption of open, standardized interfaces based on OPC UA.

HEGLA-HANIC GmbH, a member of the HEGLA Group, is a provider of software for the flat glass processing industry. The company decided to join the umati community.

What expectations do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?
Through the exchange in partnership and the assistance of umati, we can even enhance our efforts to provide manufacturer-independent communication to glass production machines and thus enable our customers and partners to simplify their production processes as part of a powerful community. In addition, umati’s standardized communication also enables us to connect machines from other industries and this offers added value from which our customers will benefit directly.

What advantages does umati offer your company and your customers?
By leveraging this unified communication, umati can additionally help our customers unify and streamline their workflows.

This allows for an immense increase in efficiency and productivity. In addition, the umati initiative extends the international network of HEGLA-HANIC, even across industry boundaries. This enables us to improve our expertise in exchange with experts from other sectors and to enter new markets, an approach our existing customers will also benefit from.

How do you evaluate the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering industry?
umati enables the engineering and manufacturing industry to move towards Industry 4.0 through fully integrated production, positioning umati as part of a total solution for all manufacturing industry production processes.
