Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI), Kolkata, will be hosting the prestigious International Congress on Glass (ICG) 2025 from January 20 to 24, 2025, at the Biswa Bangla Convention Center (BBCC) in Kolkata, India.
This marks the second occasion that our institute has the honor of organizing this renowned international event, following our first in 1986 in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian Ceramic Society (ICS), Kolkata Chapter, the All India Glass Manufacturers’ Federation (AIGMF), and the Glazing Society of India (GSI). The conference will focus on advancements and future prospects in the science and technology of glass and glass-ceramics.
We are also excited to host, for the third time in India, a Tutorial preceding the Congress, from January 17 to 19, 2025, in collaboration with the International Commission on Glass (ICG). This tutorial will cover key areas of glass science and technology, including the basics of glass and glass melts, structural aspects of glass, properties of glass, and multi-functional applications. It is designed for the benefit of researchers, young faculty members, and technologists in the field.
The conference will feature lectures from distinguished international and national experts, who will share their insights on innovative topics related to specialty glass. This includes recent technological breakthroughs and future directions. Participants can also expect valuable contributions from leading industry players on cutting-edge technologies and applications in glass science.
We anticipate hosting around 600 delegates, including senior executives from prominent industries and key figures from the global glass research community. We also warmly invite students and researchers from across colleges and universities to present their work, network with global experts, and participate in this enriching event.
Organizing a conference of this scale requires immense resources and cooperation, and we greatly appreciate the active participation, support, and generous contributions of our colleagues, collaborators, and sponsors.
