Imports of soda ash from China, the European Union, the US, Iran, Pakistan, Kenya and Ukraine into India are now subject to anti-dumping duties. These range from USD 2.38 to USD 38.79 per ton, depending on the manufacturer and exporter of the country.
India has introduced final anti-dumping duties on imports of soda ash from China, the European Union, the US, Iran, Pakistan, Kenya and Ukraine, and, according to the Department of Revenue, the effect of these anti-dumping duties will continue for five years.
Soda ash (sodium carbonate) is an important component in the production of float glass, container glass, speciality glass, silicates, detergent, soap and other industrial chemicals.
The Alkali Manufacturers Association of India filed a petition on behalf of the domestic industry’s leading companies – Nirma, Gujarat Heavy Chemicals, Saurashtra Chemicals and DCW – stating the need to introduce anti-dumping measures on imports of soda ash from these countries.
The Department of Revenue has now provided definitive anti-dumping duty rates range from USD 2.38 to USD 38.79 per ton, depending on the manufacturer and exporter of the country.
