German semiconductor group Infineon Technologies has sold its remaining fiberglass operations to Siemens VDO, the autoparts supplier owned by German technologies group Siemens, for an undisclosed sum. The transaction will officially proceed on 1 July 2006. As part of the deal, Siemens VDO will take over a fiberglass plant in the Czech Republic, which employs 500. The sale of the operations is part of Infineon“s efforts to restructure its activities. Earlier in 2005, Infineon sold large parts of its fiberglass activities to US company Finisar.
