The event was organized by the StekloSouz National United Council of Glass Industry Enterprises with assistance from the Mir Stekla (World of Glass) exhibition team and Expocentre ZAO.
On 19 November, which is the Russian Glass Industry Workers’ day, the Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow hosted the International Conference on Glass and Modern Technologies – XXI.
The event brought industry professionals together to consolidate producers and consumers, discuss objectives of the glass industry, and share relevant information.
The conference gathered representatives of key companies that play an important role in shaping the direction of industry development. The President of StekloSouz of Russia, Viktor Osipov opened the conference with a report. Other speakers were the Secretary of the International Commission on Glass; Peter Skurka, a Member of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Slovak Academy of Sciences; Chairman of the Industry and Development of the CCI Committee of the Russian Federation Valery Platonov; Chairman of the Board of JSC Industrial Waste Management Operator Dmitry Tuknov; Vice-President of StekloSouz Michael Tokarev; representatives of Leybold Optics (Switzerland) in the CIS , HORN Glass Industries AG (Germany), Impianti’s Business S.r.l. (Italy), Caspian Float Glass Plant, and others.
A key theme of the event was the Competitiveness of the Glass Business in Modern Conditions. A detailed analysis of the current state and development of the glass industry, science, and development of international business cooperation was discussed. According to the organizers, this format of intellectual exchange of scientific and practical information will allow the glass industry to look to the future with greater confidence.
