Jenoptik expands its international presence to South America

With the formation of Jenoptik do Brasil, the Jenoptik Group is taking a further step forward along its path of internationalization. ”By opening up another key region we are consistently pursuing our approach of being close to the customer through having our own local presence,” said Jenoptik Chairman Michael Mertin.

Jenoptik is strengthening its activities in the South American market. With the formation of Jenoptik do Brasil the Industrial Metrology division is expanding its service offering as a first step and positioning itself more closely to its South American customers in the automotive and automotive supplier industry.
With the formation of Jenoptik do Brasil, Jenoptik is taking a further step forward along its path of internationalization. ”By opening up another key region we are consistently pursuing our approach of being close to the customer through having our own local presence,” said Jenoptik Chairman Michael Mertin. Jenoptik’s presence in the Brazilian city of São Paulo is located in the São Bernardo industrial zone. It will initially employ a staff of five and be available to each and every one of the Group’s divisions. The Jenoptik Industrial Metrology division will start off the process, opening up another key location of the global automotive industry. In this context Jenoptik will primarily build on the division’s global presence, which will enable it, as part of the Group, to target major international projects with world-leading products, such as for example those in optical metrology and to now also offer local direct sales and after-sales structures.
In America (North, Central and South America) Jenoptik posted sales of almost EUR 74 million in 2011. These are currently being generated mainly in North America. “We plan to achieve proportionally higher growth both in Asia as well as in America and to double our sales in these regions over the medium term,” stated Jenoptik Chairman Michael Mertin. The Jenoptik Group will be focusing not only on North America but on South and Central America as well.
It was only in May this year that Jenoptik had established its own presence in Singapore from where it intends to intensify its targeting of the South East Asian market. In the first step the Industrial Metrology division will also be expanding its business for the automotive and supplier industry there.
As an integrated optoelectronics group, Jenoptik operates in five divisions: Lasers & Material Processing, Optical Systems, Industrial Metrology, Traffic Solutions and Defense & Civil Systems. In the field of industrial metrology, Jenoptik is one of the leading manufacturers of high-precision, contact and non-contact production metrology. The service spectrum covers total solutions for a wide range of measurement tasks such as roughness, contour and shape testing, as well as for measuring dimensions in every phase of the production process and in the measurement room. The product range is rounded off by a comprehensive service offering that includes advice, training and after-sales service, which includes long-term maintenance agreements.
