JinkoSolar launches bifacial PV module ‘Swan’ in Japan

The new Swan panel can produce the same power output and rear-side energy gain as dual-glass bifacial modules with lighter weight and easier installation

International solar module manufacturer JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd announced the launch of its bifacial solar PV module under a new line name of Swan in Japan.

The launch of the Swan module is the latest addition to the company’s Cheetah premium range. A single glass pane combining the high-efficiency of Cheetah bifacial cells and clear DuPont Tedlar film, Swan can achieve a high power output of up to 400W in the front side and up to 20 percent energy gain from the rear-side.

The Swan Bifacial panel, with the use of a transparent back-sheet, can produce the same power output level and rear-side energy gain as dual-glass bifacial modules with lighter weight, easier installation and a 30 year power warranty.

In addition, it can generate more BOS cost savings because the lower weight leads to the reduction of labour costs (module installation part) and a decrease of mounting structure costs compared with dual glass bifacial module with a frame, delivering higher IRR and lower LCOE for bifacial module PV projects.

“This launch is timely, as grid parity is just around the corner, and customers and investors have become much more interested in the performance and reliability of panels,” said Kangping Chen, CEO of JinkoSolar. “Our goal is to focus on serving our customers with better performing solar modules without adding other inconvenience or cost.”
