Luoyang LandGlass Technology Co. Ltd. has responded to allegations made by Glaston of Finland with regards to a recently filed suit for patent infringement. LandGlass officials say they have not received any notification of a lawsuit.
“At present, LandGlass has not received any lawsuit or been presented with any proof that there is one actually being filed,” says Michael Spellman, president and founder of IGE Glass Technologies, which represents LandGlass in the US and Canada. “When the press release appeared, LandGlass immediately put up a statement on the front page of its website regarding its view on intellectual property where it states that the company values highly the concept of intellectual property and places great importance on protecting its own while respecting that of others. Having worked very closely with LandGlass executives over the last five years, I have the greatest respect for its honesty and integrity and [am] 100% confident that any allegation of infringement is without merit.”
Glaston officials specifically noted that the allegations involve ‘certain glass tempering machines’ sold in mainland China by LandGlass. Spellman says he does not know which machines the company is referring to.
“I don’t know the specifics of Glaston’s allegations nor does anyone else,” he says. “All we have seen is a press release which only states ‘some machines’ and ‘Chinese patent,’ but no other details.”
Glaston officials were unavailable for comment.
