German LayTec has announced the appointment of Oliver Schulz as its new sales engineer, who wil lbe involved with with client relations, coordinating sales activities and supporting LayTec“s distributors in South Korea and Russia. Schulz, who started working at LayTec on 1 April 2010, obtained his diploma and Ph.D. degree at the Technical University (TU) Berlin working on Zn(Cd)Se-based semiconductor lasers for the green emission range and In(Ga)As quantum dot lasers for infrared emission range. At the TU Berlin he also gained a broad experience in device processing technology, especially plasma-based processes (e.g. PECVD and ICP-RIE). In 2007 he joined AZZURRO Semiconductors AG – an epi-foundry spin-off of the Otto-von-Guericke Universitt Magdeburg, Germany – as a senior R&D manager. At AZZURRO Schulz dealt with the GaN-on-Si technology, in particular with FETs on large diameter silicon substrates.
