Japanese auto component manufacturer Murakami Corp will increase by 25% to 5.0 million units the annual output of rear view mirrors for vehicle interiors by its wholly-owned subsidiary Murakami Manufacturing (Thailand) Co Ltd, it was reported on 28 January 2005. The move is aimed at increasing inner rear view mirror supplies to Japanese carmakers which are continuing to increase output at their manufacturing bases overseas. Murakami“s mirrors manufactured in Thailand will go to supply local car assembly plants as well as to Japan, the USA and China after the output increase. Murakami will also set up a new door mirror coating line in Japan by the summer of 2005. The company will continue output of car door mirrors overeseas but plans to concentrate production of inner rear view mirrors in Thailand only. Murakami Manufacturing (Thailand) has an annual in-vehicle mirror output of 4.0 million units at present.
